Luxury Meets Paradise At Allamanda Estate

Share

Beautiful Allamanda Estate, initially built by the late Mr. David-Griffith Hughes and Mrs. Vivian Griffith-Hughes in 1973, has been one of BVIs’ luxury getaways for family and friends from near and far for approximately 21 years before being devastated by Hurricane Irma on 6th September 2017.

While visitors to our shores created countless memories at Allamanda Estate, several BVI couples chose Allamanda Estate to exchanged their happy nuptials to celebrate their love and anniversaries, and indeed some also enjoyed staycations.

After the rebirth of Allamanda Estate, which lasted approximately two years, proprietors Mr. Audley Maduro and Mrs. Delma Maduro and children Shonda and Chad were thrilled to welcome guests to the unveiling of the new modernized Allamanda Estate on 26th February 2021. On reflection, Mrs. Maduro expressed, “It was extremely difficult to see Allamanda Estate after Hurricane Irma, and it took a while to tackle the rebuild, as there was a tremendous amount of debris to be removed. However, once the cleanup was completed with the help of extended family members, we were able to move forward.”

Many of the guests familiar with Allamanda Estate, pre-Hurricane Irma, were in awe of the transformation with its new, bold modern architecture, the relocation of the pool from the courtyard to the generous-sized southern patio, and other spectacular additional features.

Allamanda Estate is a seven-bedroom accommodation with three bedrooms in the main house, two in the Guest Cottage, and two in the Humming Bird Suite. This means that up to fourteen guests – seven couples can be comfortably accommodated.

The main house features a massive king-sized master bedroom suite with a large walk-in closet and a full master bath with double vanity.  Adjacent to the master suite is another king-sized bedroom suite with a smaller private bath.  Both king-sized suites offer an ocean view and lead onto the central patio. A new addition to the main house is a queen-size bedroom suite with a garden view. The main house also boasts a large, modernized kitchen with an island and a ten-seater dining table.

The newly renovated two-bedroom king-sized suites in the Guest Cottage take advantage of a gorgeous ocean and garden view with the addition of a few corner windows.  The larger of the two bedrooms has a unique appeal with its large glass full enclosure bay window in the bathroom.

The Hummingbird Suite, located on the left upon entry to the property, is a fully loaded two-bedroom condo.  It features a king-sized and a queen-sized suite, each with its private bath and balcony.  It is tastefully furnished with a six-sitter dining set and plush living room set with pops of red, black, and blue that tie in with the red kitchen cabinetry. For additional convenience, there is also a washer and dryer.

The homeowners were careful to maintain the home’s best features, light, and warm colours throughout the rebuild.  New exterior glass doors in the bedrooms, kitchen and dining room of the main house open onto the newly-built patio welcoming more natural light.  The two indoor seating areas are further brightened up with warm tones of teal, light gray, orange, and yellow.  Just choose one; they are both ideal places to relax, converse and engage with family and friends.

Guests can now enjoy three uniquely designed outdoor spaces.  The first and most prominent of these areas is the patio area on the southern side of the property. It can be dubbed the entertainment arena due to its size and the varied activities enjoyed in this spot.  The outdoor dining and lounging area received a well-deserved makeover with the addition of a modern gazebo perfect for a morning coffee or just lazing in the shade while taking in the views. The pool, originally located in the courtyard, offers expansive views of Long Bay Beach, the ocean, and the outer islands while swimming or lounging at the poolside. The new sixteen-seater fire pit lounge is also a lovely spot where among other things, guests can enjoy a cocktail or two and chat under the warm hues of the sunset matched only by the warm flames when the pit is lit. Finally, let’s not forget the massive bar and grill set up for a grillin’ good time.

The Happy Space in the courtyard is suitably named with its colourful architectural design of shapes hanging from the ceiling and adhered to the wall.  The combination of colours exuberate life which gives a feeling of happiness.  It is a space that must be seen to appreciate the beauty and creativity displayed.  Decked with cozy white wicker and dark blue furnishing, a glass-top table with high stools, and a fully equipped bar, nothing but sheer pleasure, fun, and relaxation can occur in this Happy Space.

Then there’s Mr. Audley Maduro’s dream child –  “Audo’s Lookout”, the ultimate rooftop lounge for sober adults, only accessible with special permission.  Audley is always keen to show off this impressive lounge and its breathtaking 360-degree views.

This is only the beginning of things to come for Allamanda Estate. According to Mrs. Maduro, a kitchen garden with fresh herbs and vegetables will be added in short order. In addition, the service levels will be enhanced at provisions have been made to have someone on property to aid guests at any time.  Chef services will also be offered as an option to guests.

The Maduros are grateful to God and to anyone who contributed in any shape or form to the masterpiece that is now Allamanda Estate. According to the Maduros, much love was poured into the rebuild, it has incredible energy, and they are ecstatic with the feedback from guests. It is their wish that every single guest will leave with a memorable experience and a burning desire to return to Allamanda Estate and our beautiful Virgin Islands.

After an extensive rebuild spearheaded by the Architect, Interior Designer, and Contractor, Mr. Kelvin Liburd of KDL Designs and Diamond Construction, credited with the amazing design and construction, the light and airy home is now ready to welcome to visit guests from near and far.  So contact them for your next corporate event, intimate gathering, or romantic getaway.
