Old and new businesses are springing up all over the BVI post-Irma. In this time of renewal and rebirth, Nutmeg & Co. is a bit of both: the old AND the new.
Born out of a partnership between Lisa Gray and Annie MacPhail, these ladies combined the best of their collective 25 years in retail and formed a new company called Nutmeg & Co.: a Road Town shopping experience that truly is a flagship retail gift and home goods shop representing the best of the BVI and beyond. Full of local and regional fine art and prints, home goods and furnishings, Nutmeg & Co. places a heavy emphasis on sustainability, eco-friendliness and collaboration.
Lisa, owner of the 15+ year old businesses Images Custom Framing and The Gallery, and Annie, owner of Nutmeg Designs, her “Shop for a Prettier Planet” and 10 year veteran in retail, “reopened” in April this year as Nutmeg & Co., a collective of not only their own products and picks, also included in their retail repertoire, brands such as Samarkand Jewelry, EC Soap Co, annie macphail™ recycled sail cloth bags and home accents, handmade ceramics, baskets (because as they say “Before there was plastic, there were baskets!) artworks and crafts from Haiti, Caribbean spices, Agapey chocolate bars from Barbados and much more.
Indeed, they also have a message for those who believe in living life more sustainably to preserve our beautiful environment and support fair trade. For it is here where you will find items to make it simple to reduce single-use plastics in your life: organic cotton re-usable produce bags, beeswax wraps, bamboo sporks, and food huggers. 
And it is here that you will find a working refill station for your plant-based, 100% biodegradable cleaning products where you “BYOB” (bring your own bottle or purchase your first one there!), fill and pay by the ounce, eliminating a whole stream of plastic bottles that would otherwise be headed to the incinerator, and all at a lower cost than the alternatives readily available on the market.
Lisa and Annie will show off their custom branded gift ideas as well: gift baskets, holiday gifts for corporates, events, weddings, kids parties, awards and more, created just for you, on any budget.
Nutmeg & Co. owners Lisa and Annie want visiting their shop to become a habit as they constantly invent, innovate and source new and delightful pleasures for everyday life. Found on Waterfront Drive across from the main ferry terminal parking, you can’t miss their colourful and photographable recycled pallet wood directional sign out front. Drop in…doors are open Monday through Friday from 9am until 5:30 and Saturday from 9am until 1pm. And keep an eye out on their social media for art gallery openings and product launch events.
