What inspired you to run for the Mrs. BVI Globe title?
RVP: My inspiration stemmed from a deep desire to be an ambassador for change and enlightenment. I saw the pageant as a platform to advocate for domestic violence prevention and to foster a sense of community. It also aligned with the mission of WINBVI, the nonprofit organization I proudly represent. This opportunity gave me the chance to amplify my voice on important social issues while building connections that can lead to transformative change.
What were the segments of the competition?
RVP: Locally, the Mrs. BVI Globe coronation ceremony was tailored as a fundraiser for WINBVI, emphasizing the pageant’s commitment to community service. The competition comprised similar segments designed to showcase various qualities of the participants and included a platform presentation. At the international Mrs. Globe Pageant, I graced the stage in a swimsuit round that highlighted confidence and physical fitness, and an evening wear segment that focused on elegance and poise as well as a personality interview.
What is your platform?
RVP: My platform centers on Domestic Violence and Gender-Based Violence Prevention. This issue is deeply personal to me, and I am committed to raising awareness and fostering support systems for survivors.
How have you advocated for your platform?
RVP: I have utilized various mediums to advocate for my platform. These included appearances on radio shows, messages on digital billboards, and active engagement on social media. I’ve also participated in discussion panels and spoken to religious, educational, and social groups. Collaborating with stakeholders has allowed me to broaden the reach of my message, ensuring that the issue of domestic violence receives the attention it deserves.
Who are your biggest supporters?
RVP: My advocacy journey would not have been possible without the support of my family, the WINBVI team, Unite BVI, and several local business sponsors. Their encouragement and contributions have been instrumental in my success.
What impact does pageantry have on the community?
RVP: Pageantry has redefined the traditional image of a queen, showcasing that being a queen is not solely about appearance but about confidence, self-worth, and a passion for change. It empowers women to embrace their uniqueness and inspires others to contribute to societal growth.
How does true beauty manifest in pageantry?
RVP: True beauty in pageantry is rooted in authenticity, poise, and dignity. It shines when a woman is genuine, passionate about her cause, and carries herself in a way that inspires admiration and respect.
Does your title have global impact?
RVP: Absolutely. Representing the BVI at the Mrs. Globe pageant in China allowed me to connect with women from diverse backgrounds who are equally passionate about driving change. The experience highlighted the interconnectedness of global challenges and the power of solidarity in addressing them.
Does your title grant you merit to speak on women’s issues in the BVI?
RVP: Yes, my title provides a unique platform to address women’s issues within the BVI. It enables me to share my insights and contribute to discussions that empower and enlighten the community.
Have you participated in other competitions before Mrs. BVI Globe?
RVP: No, this was my first pageant experience, making the journey even more meaningful and transformative.
What are the criteria for participants?
RVP: The platform encourages diversity and inclusivity. Participants must be at least 27 years of age, can be married, divorced, separated, widowed, or in a committed relationship with children. The emphasis is on women who wish to be change agents and ambassadors for WINBVI.
Why is this so important to you?
RVP: Domestic violence is not solely a women’s issue; it affects individuals across all genders, and many men face significant stigma when they seek help or share their experiences. By creating a safe space for dialogue, I felt that I was fulfilling my purpose of raising awareness and encouraging open discussions about this critical issue. In those moments, I realized that my role as a pageant queen extends beyond the crown; it is about being a voice for the voiceless and advocating for those who may feel powerless. The courage these men displayed in sharing their stories not only validated my efforts but also underscored the need for continued advocacy and support systems for all survivors of domestic violence. It became clear to me that there is a pressing need to break down societal barriers and misconceptions surrounding gender-based violence, and I am committed to being part of that change. Ultimately, this moment served as a powerful reminder of why I embarked on this journey in the first place: to make a difference in the lives of others and to advocate for a community where everyone feels safe, heard, and empowered. Knowing that I am helping to foster understanding and support around such an important issue fills me with immense pride and reinforces my dedication to this cause.
