How About a Violinist to Enhance Your Event?

It can be considered quite the unconventional instrument for a BVIslander to champion – the violin. But that’s not a notion that Kyle Moses supports at all.

In fact, more and more persons can now confirm that entertainment with Kyle Moses on the violin is definitely an attraction that will make for a unique, classy and unforgettable event.

Kyle admits that the violin is one of the most difficult instruments to learn, but he quickly asserts that “nothing is hard once you’re committed and disciplined.”

His love for music is ingrained in his DNA. His father plays several instruments, including the guitar and the piano/organ.

From a young age, Kyle developed a love for classical music. He says he loved hearing stringed instruments – the violin, harp, cello. “I identified myself with the violin, as it calms my spirit and makes me feel relaxed,” he said.

And so Kyle started taking classes Ms. Carol Valero, which he did for one month before deciding to learn on his own. He then credits Mrs. Allison Archer for her expert follow up tutoring and even now as he prepares for the Royal School of Music Examinations.

He recounts also being motivated to practice playing the violin by his deceased mother, who liked to hear him practice. “After she died 5 years ago, I put it down for around two years, but I was thinking about her and realized she wouldn’t want me to do that.”

In the meantime though, one would know Kyle for being one of the drummers in the Seventh-day Adventist Drum Corps, Advent HeartBeats since 1995.  Today, he is the director.

Over the past seven years, Kyle has invested heavily, time and money, in becoming a violinist extraordinaire. In addition to learning to master the instrument, he has been buying instruments and learning different techniques, in particular how to tune and fix them.

This art is expected to live on in the Moses family, if not in anyone else, as he is now teaching his children, only 8 years and 4 years, to play as well. But there is hope for more children to become violinists. Private classes are being run by Mrs. Archer.

In addition, through his business, Music Therapy VI, Kyle sells instruments, in particular drums and violins. He also assists persons interested in getting started or improving their playing.

For his part, Kyle is becoming quite popular on the entertainment scene, appearing at many events throughout the Territory. He has done gigs at Peter Island, Scrub Island, Sugar Mill Restaurant and other venues, showcasing all genres of music. He has played for weddings as a solo act and he also plays in church.

“The response has been good,” he says, “but I wish it was better.”   He says people are warming up to the idea of having a BVIslander violinist at events. This is still a unique phenomenon, as one would be more likely to see a saxophonist, guitarist or pianist and so this is a challenge for him to “get out there more”.

Kyle, the Virgin Islander violinist, is available for hire. So if you’re looking to enhance your next event – weddings, parties, conferences – call Kyle Moses on 284 346 7530 or contact Kyle Moses on Facebook or kylemostrings on Instagram.
